What is Cosplay?

I came across some pictures and found myself researching what “cosplay” was.

verb /ˈkäzˌplā/
cosplayed, past participle; cosplayed, past tense; cosplaying, present participle; cosplays, 3rd person singular present

  • Engage in cosplay

noun /ˈkäzˌplā/

The practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, esp. one from the Japanese genres of manga or anime.

Cosplay|コスプレ|kosupure, short for “costume play”, is type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan

This is something that seems to have been going on for awhile, but  think it’s very interesting. People can get very creative when it comes to their favorite characters.

Do me a favor and Google “cosplay” and “hide cosplay” and tell me what you think…
